Although i have other finished models waiting to share, but my friend plan to paint this kit too, so i shift it to this week. It is a renew version of a 80s robot anime: Fang of the Sun Dougram (It is older than me, hence i haven't watch this 75-ep anime). Originally mechanical designer is 大河原邦男, i certainly set "大河站" pose . This new version is re-designed by 太田垣 康男, maybe mention comics likes Gundam Thunderbolt, Front Mission, you would know who he is. The revised Dougram match current style of gunpla design, but less muscle than 大河原 ver (The next one Big Foot not as good as original design, and price increased a lots, i won't buy la ...). And the joints design of this model kit is really bad, knee is weak, forearm only can bend 90deg., weapon/backpack feels like using old kit, hasn't provide the hand to hold barrel, etc. Color scheme came from 2015 sp edition of Dougram, and i have spare parts (from thrown Hexagear) to reform the big clamp in sketches, so I painted it in field green camo, with a shape yellow clamp and red highlights, weathering are typical 3 steps: washes (green, sepia), drybrushing, foam rusting effect after matt coat (black, gunmetal, dark silver) (next time will try oil paints blending before foam steps). 就這樣 2023 年第二作 (累計上色成品第 三 三 五 號)入櫃了。

foam is a good tool for weathering.




this dougram is finished before i bought oil paints. hence, only weathering with wash, drybrush, foam. i.e. haven't do oil paint weathering.

wash with glaze medium, then drybrush main colors could get good result. just the effect maybe uneven (can't access to recessed locations)...

i plan to try oil paints on next gunpla: HG MS-05, but need to find some kits for practicing first

i already painted ma.k, votoms in this style. maybe not many japanese mecha  i interested in the market, and i prefer paint ganpla in clean color scheme. so not often sharing weathering kit except AFV.
