yes, spray topcoat could improve anti scratch,
but its concept is forming a protection layer on top of painted surface,
if the brand you use doesn't have good adhesion characteristic (like the acrylic paints which i am using
),
still will create scratches when assembling painted parts or setting pose.
btw, the extra tolerance reserved at joints only make the assembling process smoother, not prevent scratch directly.
therefore, i suggest choosing better brand / type of paints at the beginning. e.g. AK's REAL series, i.e. acrylic lacquer paints.
i try once, paint one layer with brush on model kit without primer, its adhesive & matt finish shall be the best, even scratch the painted with nail, it still stick on model kit firmly ...
however, it is not easy to find in HK
i requested whole set from shop in last year, unfortunately maybe the quantity is too low? AK interactive hasn't accept the order?
that why i still using typical acrylic paints because it covers most wide range of colors & match my paint style.
