First of all, I don't believe master. But I believe their work more than what they said.
I think, the most importance key for all is research, study/practice, question and justice. And I will try to share my point of view and experience in this time. Of course I'm open mind and welcome for all comment and input.

Actually, we have many way to paint "skin tone colours". Oil and acrylic are the popular mediums for figure painting. And we are able to use difference skill to apply any colours on you figure skin. Here is some solution with Acrylic. *Oil colour solution will be later.
What's the easy way to paint skin tone with Arcylic? layer by layer(This is the basic skill for acrylic user). And you can buy the FLESH PAINT/COLOUR SET in market place. for example:

Such are practical setup for who are interested with figure flesh painting. Because they are ready to use and mixed store in bottle by bottle. You can follow their attached introduction, step by step to finish a good looking figure skin.
For personally, I will use some colour concept by "Fine art painting". Because I want those figure alive and doesn't just like a doll. Such will make you to step-up and away from the factory level with Ready to use flesh painting set... What colour concept is a very basic and easiest forgotten/skipped articles in tutorial books of colouring.
