Although weather becomes warm after the first week of lunar new year, but my passion haven't raise at the same time. No mood to continue those working kits started in last year... Check the records, my last proper gunpla was in June of 2022, during the MSV/MSD 齊齊砌. I think it relate to Bandai publishes less HGUC and always put them in PB.
I quite like the proportion, details of the redesigned 0079. But haven't read comics or watch anime, so haven't buy many GTO kits. This box of MS-05 not hunt from online shops or local shops, is bought from friend. After assembled, my feeling of GTO zaku is changed, small chest, narrow arms, waist not match with muscle legs; joint of shoulder, wrist are too long; but it included lots of weapons, can't mount them all at once, so i give-up the rifle, drill a hole at rear to mount BB-gun, stick the missile packs to leg as per classic zaku-II setting, added awls to shield and hold it with hand, etc.
The original deep green + purple grey tone is nice, but i saw a nice green + stone blue color scheme before, so began my MS-05 from that. After practicing wash, acrylic glazing blend, foam rusting, drybrush, edging, ... weathering on AFVs for two years, i start to learn oil paints technique now, hence bought some basic colors, equipment before the end of tiger year, then try it on Zaku-I during the holidays. As a result, i could get soft highlight/shadow, i.e. blending with oil paints, similar to airbrush. But the drying time for oil paints is so long, w/o the help of hair dryer or oven, it still sticky after two whole days.
The steps for this time are:
1 layer of acrylic primer,
1 layer of acrylic paints as basic coat,
2~3 layers of acrylic paints for color scheme,
apply water decals,
wash with dark green once,
glaze with sand yellow on lower portion of armors,
oil paints blending,
apply Tamiya texture paints as mud,
spray matt coat,
use foam to create rusting effects with dark grey, gun metal, dark silver.
就這樣 2023 年第五作 (累計上色成品第 三 三 八 號) 入櫃了。
