Building Progress
Although I have bought many Tameo kits this is my 2nd Tameo project. Unfortunatley, I use to have no luck with 1/43 kit and use to be trashed at final. Let 's see I got some luck this time or not.
Most likely, information gathering is the first step for all of my project.
The fitting of the Body and Underchasis is perfect. I hope that I could have some 1/20 kits having such excellent fitting.
Experiment Time !
From the previous picture, we could see there is a Mold Line on the side and we need to remove it. In order to avoid over polishing around the Mold Line area, I have removed it with using Cutter. Actually, I was a bit lazy and I have tried to removed such Mold Line with using Ultra Sound Cutter. It worked a little bit faster than general cutter. After that, I have polished such area with 320, 600 and 1000 Sand paper.
At the same time, I have tested various for Deepening Panel Lines. Make sure it is Deepening, not Widening ! Finally, I think the 0.15mm to 0.2mm Chisel and some modeling Scribers are most useful tools for this purpose.
The basic test fitting have been done. It is not too hard but not easy neither. I found that many parts has to be trimmed or replaced by 0.4mm brass sheet.
After test fitting is done, the E20 was soaked in aceton in order to clean up the Krazy glue.
Soldering the lower wing with the rear end plates for easy painting and more strength
I have opened up the air pod with motor tool
The air outlet have to be opened too.
The Exhaust End looks horrible. Tameo just offers a piece PE to simulate that.
A little modification is done. The Exhaust End is opened and a little 1.5mm stainless steel pipe is also added.
Some smaller End Plate and Wing have been trimmed. It is not easy since their size is too small to hold. However, this process is a MUST for 1/43 kit.
[img]The Main Wing will be also trimmed later.
Surfacer On ! Long way to go.
The body is painted with Pure Black.
I wanted to painted with BLUEISH BLACK before. Unfortunately, I could not do it this way !
For the decal of Tameo, they have printed the CARRIER FILM in BLACK in order to avoid SILVERING, not clear. So, if I paint the E20 inBLUEISH BLACK rather than PURE BLACK, you will see the BLACK CARRIER FILM on the finished product.
In order to avoid SILVERING. I have tried to get a SMOOTHEST result.
I have applied some decal on the body. E20 is damned beautiful !
Finally, all decals have been applied on the body. Unfortunately, many touch-up are needed.
Now, it is time to TRIM TRIM TRIM those wing parts !
I think that I have tried my best in trimming such THICK aero parts !
Finally, the nightmare of Front Wing comes to the end.
This looks great to me !
Keep on trimming !
Use Krazy Glue from Wave as putty to fix the barge board.
All Aero parts have been painted. According to the instruction manual, Rear End Plates should be painted with BLACK. However, don't believe Tameo but me !
Some damned hard fitting portion (Mission Impossible) has been cut off from the decal.
I believe this is the best way to handle the rear end plate decal.
All body decal have been applied. I hope I could have the clear coat done on the weekend.
Clear Coat On ! With using PS-290. It is an easy task. Clear Coat is settled smoothly on the body. Not much polishing is required excluding the rear end plate since I have over painted it >_<
So, Ps-290 is highly recommended as your 2k brush !
After leveling the decal edge with #1500 Sand Paper, another 2K clear was applied. It took 1 day to dry. Then polished with compound. I believe I have trimmed and polished all the parts I could.
It is time to prepare a display case.
The Underchassis is fixed with 2 M2 Screws
The underchassis seems to be unreasonable thick.
Trim with file
Done !
Trim, Trim and Trim ! I have also made an opening for the brake duct.
Most of the parts are painted. Need some more time for CF decal and a Flat Clear Coat
CF Decal ! This is a challenging and boring step to me. I think I have applied over 80% CF decal on the CF area !
It looks better with CF decal
All the CF parts are ready for final clear coat. For the suspension arms, I would apply 2K for smooth and leveling purpose. For the others. Semi-Glossy will do
Tire Mark is nice !
Seat Belt is done !
Custom Made Spacers. Thickness is around 0.7mm. It is useful to maintain certain height/space in between the display base and underchasis
Fix the car on the display. It would be more easier to set up the wheels and wings
Done ! I will some better pic for finished model later
